From the 18th Dynasty onwards, mudbrick pyramids were used to mark the tombs of private individuals. These small structures were topped by a stone pyramidion. Many such pyramidia have survived, and most of them were found in Thebes (at Deir el-Medina) and Saqqara (the burial ground of the city of Memphis). They are typically decorated with solar motifs. On the front of this particular example, the deceased Ptahemwia is depicted standing in adoration. The hieroglyphic text is dedicated to Re-Horakhty and Osiris. Above the deceased, we see the jackal god Anubis. The wife of the deceased and their three children are shown standing in adoration on the right side, with two other women in the back. The left side depicts the gods Re-Horakhty and Osiris. Reconstruction of a Roman room in Londinium (Roman London), 1st-2nd century AD. The wall decoration was reconstructed starting from fragments of painted plaster found in Bishopsgate ca.1850, now at the British Museum. The lost parts of the walls were recreated using examples from Verulamium (St Albans) and Colchester. The mosaic selected for this reconstruction was found in Silchester. The krater (vase used to mix wine) at its centre shares the Bacchic theme of the wall paintings, which depict satyrs holding grapes and a thyrsus. All the objects in the room are based on Roman originals. The table in this reconstruction was found in Herculaneum, where it was carbonised during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius (https://bit.ly/2svzzqD ). The lucernae (oil lamps) and wares were reconstructed using Roman artefacts on exhibition at the British Museum, room G49. This exquisite drinking cup for atol in the collection of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame (cat. # 1982.053) is adorned along the rim with jaguar prints on the inside and hieroglyphs on the outside. The previously unpublished inscription is one of the finest examples of seventh-century Maya caligraphy and contains rare variants of number 9 and TZ’AK. There are no personal names or place names. The text only states that the cup belonged to “the artisan of the eternal lord”. The orthography of the inscription is rather unusual: the scribe apparently tried to arrange the text so that it would consist of 20 characters in 11 segments (blocks) with an extra visual emphasis on the word “eternal (bolon tz’akbuul)”. I created the base Delorean DMC as a starting point, I then went on to create the Back To The Future movie additions. It was a great project to work on as I was able to base my design on an actual real-world example of a Movie replica Car. After watching Ready Player One I wanted to ‘update’ the model to reflect the changes made in the movie as they looked pretty cool on the big screen, who doesn’t want K.I.T.T additions on a Delorean anyhow? I took the base DeLorean model and some of the BTTF additions I have already added and went all out on the detail, motivated by the amazing Ready Player one visuals. This is a turned wassail bowl with decorations from Duff House. The ancient New Year practice of ‘wassailing’ was practiced in England, Scotland and Wales. This is all that remains of SS Rifle, one of the earliest surviving examples of a small pre-fabricated screw steamer in the British Isles. Rifle was purchased by the Locheil Estate in the 1860s for use on Loch Arkaig, ferrying goods, passengers and mail between the isolated dwellings around the loch. As well as being a practical vessel, Rifle was also used for pleasure, often carrying shooting parties. The boat was laid-up in the 1930s, and whilst being scrapped, sank and lay buried until removed by the army after becoming a hazard to wartime vessels working from the pier. Rifle was blasted away from the pier, losing the bow in the process. Despite being submerged for over half a century, it was raised in 1990. Although in a very fragile condition, Rifle’s propeller is a well-preserved example of an early design. The model was created as a part of ‘Scanning The Horizon’ 3D digitisation project. I made Kaneki Ken from Tokyo Ghoul in 3D. Programs used: -Cinema 4D -Zbrush -UVLayout -Substance Painter This is model was made for my 3D modeling exam. I struggeled getting the materials to export properly from Cinema 4D, so the shading might look a bit flat. But I’m fairly happy with the model overall.
