Hello! This Rad looking gas mask is one of my favourite pieces of survival equipment. There’s a good chance you recognize it as it’s especially iconic and appears in various media as a cool looking respirator, despite rarely being named. It’s been used by many different military and civilian organisations, not the least of which was British special forces, who used versions in both counter terrorist and “regular” operations overseas by both the SAS and SBS. This was modelled off of an Ex-police example that I own because I’m a massive nerd. As for the model itself, it uses mostly 2K maps, was Modelled in 3DSMax and baked in xnormal. I was pleasantly surprised at the effect a good cavity map had in PBR! Actually turned out fairly high poly, but a few LODS helped that in-engine. Bust mesh from Polycount wiki. (Thanks!) The Machine Gun Bunker of Alhama de Murcia is one of the best examples of 20th century military architecture in the Region of Murcia. Its design and construction is part of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), possibly built in 1937, forming part of the Ground Defense Plan of the naval base of Cartagena, strategic installation, from the military point of view, for the survival of the Republic. The bunker is essentially built in concrete, a scarce and valuable material during the war that was only used in priority military installations. It conserves its two lateral entrances. Inside the bunker is divided into 3 spaces, two of them for the placement of heavy machine guns and the third to the storage of supplies and ammunition, also serving as a refuge. I found this great model on sketchfab and wanted to give it a coat of paint! After searching out some reference images I was inspired by 17th and 18th-century ship living quarters and some of the art and maps that were placed within them. I textured in Substance Painter and did the UV unwrap in blender (I removed some faces and internal objects to save texture space). I started by searching out some reference images of Air Balloons, but whilst there are is great work out there I couldn’t find anything that I thought really matched the model well and that I liked. So I broadened the search to old sailing ships and found some examples of private quarters and the art contained within. An ancient Egyptian arched sistrum (musical percussion instrument similar to a rattle). The provenance is unknown as the piece was purchased in Luxor in 1908. It likely dates to the Late Period. The sistrum is pierced twice on each side of the arch where the moving pieces would have been inserted. Below the arch, we see a wedjat eye above a nb-sign. Hathor’s head is flanked by two columns and bears her characteristic plaited wig. This example is unusual for the lack of a double headed Hathor, only one side bears Hathor’s face with the back of the sistrum featuring the sun disk and horns (Hathor’s symbol). The M1A4E3 Abrams began its life in 2020 as the M1AWSTB (Advanced Weapons Systems Test Bed) when the U.S. Army put out a request for a more powerful armament for its M1A3 tanks. 4 years and 3 developmental prototypes later and the A4E3 was finally entered into service. The entire program cost over $16 billion dollars from concept to production and each tank cost $32 million to produce, limiting the production to only 196 examples. The new tank boasted a number of new features and advantages over previous Abrams models and was a cut above any other current generation tank. The XMX-100 Bi-lateral Railgun was the first magnetic projection weapon ever to enter operational service. It was capable of firing a 48lb projectile at a muzzle velocity of over 8,100 feet per second, or just over Mach 7. The resulting impact has over 107,000 newtons of force. Cuenca Cathedral is a Gothic cathedral in the city of Cuenca, located in the Province of Cuenca in the Castile-La Mancha region of south-eastern central Spain. The building is one of the earliest Spanish examples of Gothic architecture, built at a time when the Romanesque style predominated in the Iberian Peninsula. In particular, the cathedral is characteristic of the Norman and Anglo-Norman architecture of the 12th century, of which Soissons Cathedral, Laon Cathedral and Notre-Dame de Paris are representative examples.
