The helmet belonged to Wilson (Jake) Crawford. He had 30 years of service. Many of those years was at Station 32 in Broad Ripple (which is now on the historic register). He went up through the ranks to Captain. He was chauffeur for Jesse (Boots) Hutsell (Division Fire Chief) around 1970 and then spent his remaining years at Station 14, near the Children’s Museum. He passed away suddenly the year he was to retire (Sept. 1979). This item was 3D scanned using a Creaform Go Scan 50. A high-poly Zbrush model ready for 3d printing - I know it doesn’t look as if it will print, but it will - see pictures below. I have based the model on pictures of the Tour de France showing one of the sprinters going over the cobblestones. When you download this model you will get an STL file sized to fit the Anycubic Photon or similar spec resin printer. The trickiest part of the process is removing the supports without cutting through part of the bicycle! A personal project that I’ve been doing in my spare time for about a year. I have learned many new things during this time, for example, how to use Unreal Engine 5 and Substance Designer. Also I repeated the basics of 3D pipeline I learned at XYZ School. Most importantly, I managed to convey the mood with which the people of the post-Soviet space are picking berries. An old but reliable grandfather’s scooter, a couple of buckets and a good tovarisch nearby – everything you need for a “quiet hunt”. For the terrain I used the “Simple grass chunks” by 3dhdscan and the “Grassy Ground” texture by Game Textures.
