The Nieuport 17 C.1 was a French sesquiplane fighter designed and manufactured by the Nieuport company during World War I. An improvement over the Nieuport 11, it was a little larger than earlier Nieuports and better adapted to the more powerful engine than the interim Nieuport 16. Aside from early examples, it had the new Alkan-Hamy synchronization gear, permitting the use of a fuselage-mounted synchronised Vickers gun firing through the propeller disc. This was a dieselpunk inspired bi-plane I created for a game concept/prototype a few years back.
It started out as a low poly model but was never finished. To finally finish it I decided to add lots of new detail as well as completely re-texture it, adding additional maps that our game engine didn’t support at the time (like normal maps).
It includes a fully modelled cockpit (which would have been interactive had the game ever been made), and a detailed rotary engine; both of which have their own set of texture maps so will be easy to reuse in other projects.
Included in the optional download are all uncompressed texture maps in PNG format (diffuse, AO, roughness, metallic, and normal), as well as quadrangular and triangulated versions of the mesh.
