Currently the oldest, still functioning Swedish-built car in the world.\n\nThe car was contructed in Ystad, Sweden by two brothers, Anders Cederholm, a painter, and Jöns Cederholm, who was a blacksmith. The cartwright Eliasson also helped by making the seats and some wooden details. Only two examples of the car were ever constructed, the first one broke down and then crashed the very first time it was driven, it was very hard to drive and had no brakes. After crashing the first model the brothers constructed a second one, which was easier to drive. This car had poor reliability, but the brothers managed to take some pleasure trips in it. For the concept I based myself on the abandon military and scientific bases of Deception Island (Antartica), including the old whale oil refinery factories. While searching for some reference, I fell in love with the colors and mood that some of the pictures depicted from these places . They are completly abandoned and destroyed, but their surroundings seemed so quiet, pure and constant in time that made these houses feel like the only reserves of life in the place, even though they were forgotten long time ago. Small environment model based on a wonderful illustration by Marcel Hampel (https://bit.ly/2ATepdS). With this study I had one major goal - examine how base color works with light while trying to stay to the color scheme of the original illustration as close as possible. In order to do this I found myself referring to the birch a lot - its white color helped me figure out light and shadow hue and value relation between all the elements of the illustration. I didn’t use textures (except for the alpha cards for the grass and moss) so I could change colors quickly. I also learned some new tricks, like using Data Transfer modifier in Blender in order to adjust normals of the moss grass to the moss itself so it would blend perfectly (more obvious in the Matcap view). In order for both sides to look good, I duplicated the mesh and flipped normals, while making them both single sided.
