These streets look a little different at night, don’t they? After a bit of a 3D art break (outside my work work stuff) I wanted to jump back in with a little warmup. Here is a project i’ve really wanted to experiment. This is a parallax comics of the thief, Sly Cooper from the eponym Playstation’s games. It’s a quite short story, but i essentialy was focused on the render effect. It required a lot of sketches and scratches to imagine the ambiant, the lighting and the placement of different elements. I principaly used the baking of lights to render this effect of very contrasted black and white. Added a tiny outline to enhance the cartoon effect Hope you’ll like it. Scene made in 3DS Max using 3 Particle Flows of 3 different meshes : Grass, broadleaf cattail and a flower. I did 2 different meshes for the grass, added a cut in the center to bend each grass in an opposite direction. This way it’s nearly impossible to see the faces from above. In the Particle View, I used a data operator (Event) with Matrix operands and Quaternion rotation in order to align particles to the normals of a sphere. Very useful to scatter objects on an uneven surface.
