However, it is a replacement coffin, having been origianlly made for a priest by the name of Djehutymose. This relief carving is in one of the crypts at Dendera Temple, Egypt and has been interpreted by various fringe or conspiracy theorists and “alternate” history nuts as evidence of the ancient Egyptians having light bulbs. However, that pseudoscientific interpreation is false. This is a depiction of an aspect of ancient Egyptian theology. The scene depicts the creation of the sun god in the form of a serpent surrounded by either an oval body of water or a magical (heka) field. At the end of the oval is a lotus blossom and stem. The medieval chess pieces from the Scottish island of Lewis are among our most popular collections. They give us fascinating insights into the international connections of western Scotland and the growing popularity of chess in medieval Europe. The eleven chess pieces on display in the Museum of Scotland were part of a large hoard buried on Lewis. The hoard contained 93 gaming pieces in total, including at least four chess sets as well as pieces from other games. The chess pieces were probably made in the late 12th or early 13th century in Norway. This exquisite drinking cup for atol in the collection of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame (cat. # 1982.053) is adorned along the rim with jaguar prints on the inside and hieroglyphs on the outside. The previously unpublished inscription is one of the finest examples of seventh-century Maya caligraphy and contains rare variants of number 9 and TZ’AK. There are no personal names or place names. The text only states that the cup belonged to “the artisan of the eternal lord”. The orthography of the inscription is rather unusual: the scribe apparently tried to arrange the text so that it would consist of 20 characters in 11 segments (blocks) with an extra visual emphasis on the word “eternal (bolon tz’akbuul)”. 7 years ago, I scanned this Nanotyrannus : https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/nanotyrannus-lancensis-young-t-rex-7b0967fa27674d959647868686b6717b . However, the model was far from perfect. I figured I would scan it again for the Agisoft Nature Challenge. This time, I managed to create a watertight model that should be 3D printable. I also set the number of polygons to 300k on purpose : half the weight of the original model, but with more details ! This is a cast of the real fossil of a Nanotyrannus Lancensis found in Gilmore, Montana, in the Hell Creek formation, in 1946. It is about 65 million years old. Scientists used to think Nanotyrannus Lancensis was a species distinct from the famous T-Rex, but recent discoveries tend to show that a nanotyrannus is actually a young T-Rex. This is a church built somewhere around year 1100. The building material is sand stone and wood. The church has been built on top of 1,5 meters of previous “cultural building remains” Through annual ring dating on wooden beams over the nave, it has been found that these trees were felled in 1136. The church is built in Romanesque style with the tower to the west. (Notation 1 on the model) An inscription engraved above the entrance on the west side states that “Othelrik me fecit”, which means: Othelric has made me. This architect and stonemason is believed to have come from northern Germany and was one of the foremost of the 12th century in Västgötland. Buildings like this are usually kept shut, but the hatch on this one has been broken open and it is clearly being used for drinking etc now. A WWII radar station on Ward Hill, Fair Isle, it was a Coast Defence U-boat (C.D.U.) station which was the naval version of the R.A.F.’s Chain Home Low (C.H.L.) radar. Radar was used here to track shipping and surfaced submarines and at longer distances aircraft. Something that makes this site unusual is that parts of the antennas and their turntables still survive here. After the war the site was partially dismantled then some buildings/structures blown up with explosives. Damage to the floors indicate where some of the charges were set. Fair Isle is situated about half way between the Orkney Isles and the Shetland Isles off the north coast of Scotland. The school objective was to create a high quality game ready model in a month (the month being shortened to around 3 weeks due to Christmas break). For the model, I chose to create a medieval knight. The Green Knight, low poly was made in Maya, and high poly was made in zBrush. High res was sculpted in 2 days and low res was finished in around 2 days. The game res model was made using the quad draw tool in Maya and UVs were also cut in the software. When creating the low res, I also split some parts off in order to allow for customization as if the model had different armor sets. The textures were made in 4 days with the help of Substance Painter. I followed UE4 PBR guidelines and did every material as a procedural. I did this using generators, fill layers, etc. I did this to allow for felxiability in the texturing and allow for changes to be made if someone chose to. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 20460 polygons.
