Gaara’s gourd from naruto, used to carry weaponized sand. This is my interpretation of what Gaara’s gourd could look like in the real world if it were made from realistic materials. The gourd is made of clay, with the cloth band in the middle consisting of a silk-like fabric. I assumed the symbols around the gourd to be talismans, and gave them the appearance of being “stuck on” to the gourd. This one was a lot of fun, and really triggered my nostalgia! UPDATE: I added some new texture details to the gourd, changing the glossiness to give it more of a sandy appearance. The Skuldelev ships are a group of five well preserved 11th century ships from the Viking period, found in the Roskilde Fjord in Denmark near the town of Skuldelev. Skuldelev 2 was a large ocean going longship, a war vessel probably known as a Skeid - the type of vessel also known in the sagas as “dragon ships”. From analyzing the wood of the ship archaeologists were able to determine the ship had been built in Ireland around the 1040’s CE, the furthest away of all the Skuldelev ships. Originally, this was a logo design that I made for #KPPLOGO contest (when Kyary achieved her 5 year as a musical artist). Didn’t win, but I like the concept enought to make a 3D version. The idea consist in a giant living cake/ice cream that eats everything that cross it mouth. There’s lots of sweet things around since Kyary stuff usually looks that way. The cake eating a cloud or the cream vortex swallowing a cherry might not be so sweet, but her art have those details quite often. This was made in Blender for modeling and Substance Paint for texturing. Textures range from 512x512 up to 4k. This is all that remains of SS Rifle, one of the earliest surviving examples of a small pre-fabricated screw steamer in the British Isles. Rifle was purchased by the Locheil Estate in the 1860s for use on Loch Arkaig, ferrying goods, passengers and mail between the isolated dwellings around the loch. As well as being a practical vessel, Rifle was also used for pleasure, often carrying shooting parties. The boat was laid-up in the 1930s, and whilst being scrapped, sank and lay buried until removed by the army after becoming a hazard to wartime vessels working from the pier. Rifle was blasted away from the pier, losing the bow in the process. Despite being submerged for over half a century, it was raised in 1990. Although in a very fragile condition, Rifle’s propeller is a well-preserved example of an early design. The model was created as a part of ‘Scanning The Horizon’ 3D digitisation project. Wanted to try something new and fun out, so after fiddling around in Blender for a solid while and trying just about everything I know how to do, this happened after I figured out how meatballs work. Mirrored UV layout for simplicity, and fully weightpainted on an armature so I can put dynamic bones on it to wiggle around a bit. Was a lot of fun learning how to make this.
