Monteriggioni is a medieval walled town in central Italy that is located on a natural hillock. It was built by the Sienese in 1214β19 as a front line in their wars against Florence.
During the conflicts between Siena and Florence in the Middle Ages, the city was strategically placed as a defensive fortification. It also withstood many attacks from both the Florentines and the forces of the Bishop of Volterra. In 1554 the Sienese were able to place control of the town’s garrison to Giovannino Zeti, who had been exiled from Florence. Between 1930 and 1950 the Eamons family owned and operated a gas station and motel along Highway 1a, between Calagry and Cochrane. This version of the gas station was built in 1952. In 2012 it was moved to make way for theTuscany LRT station as the city grew past the motel.
In 2015 the HIgh River Auto Club purchased the building, which had been in storage, and installed it over the next few years in High river.
In 2021 we scanned it for the project. It is a large space, with several additions, and led to complications. Rather than just upload the entire model (over 1.5 Gb) we are isolating someof the features and recreating a smaller version of the building itself to preserve the detail and character.

She is Annie, a fin whale found on the shores of Piombino in 1990. The skeleton is more than 19 metres long and it weights around 27 tons.
Right in the garden of the Museo di Storia Naturale del Mediterraneo (MUSMED) was built the beautiful Sala del Mare that now hosts Annie and other cetaceans and dioramas. The architectural project was made by architect Giuseppe Milanesi. The external shape of the Sala del Mare recalls the profile of a large cetacean, and inside of it seems to be in the shell of a big wooden ship.
Annie, which is the symbol and the logo of the Museo di Storia Naturale del Mediterraneo, is featured in the short cartoon movie BLU, made by Andrea Camerini.
