At a strip mall across town is this concrete Statue of Liberty. I’ve driven by it for years. I decided to do a quick and dirty model of it. By the time I got to the strip mall, the sun was close to setting and I had to hurry. As you can see, South Dakota seasons are hard on decorative concrete sculptures like this one. The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete. FF6 is one of my favourite games of all time, and with the release of the Snes Mini it made me want to replay it. This gave me the idea of creating a tiny diorama of the first city of the game. The engine was designed in a way to have the two cylinders both at a 45 degree angle from each other. This train was to be built in Blender, and then transferred to the Unity game engine. I built the train in a low polygon fashion (50,000+ triangles), baked the bump map, and also rigged the wheels and transmission, to rotate with only the action of one bone. For the materials, I created a material ID for the train, and pulled the model into Substance Painter to keep all of the textures in one full map, so that when you import the train to Unity, you will only have to worry about one batch of maps, rather than dealing with many more. For my submission, I present MAT COP 21. COP 21 is inspired by the fictional character Eva from the pixar movie Wall-E. My artistic take on the challenge was to present a visual representation of the effects of climate change. Similar to the message conveyed in Wall-E my model expresses the juxtaposition of despair and hope for a ecologically sound future. The damage on the model symbolizes the negative impact on Earth but still holds hope in the form of the pod accepting the plant. I focused in on subtle details that are symbolic for these current issues such as: dented & bent metal, the burning lines ( Earth’s rising core temperatures), the cracked glass (depletion of the Ozone Layer) and, the black malice at the figure’s base (oil spills in our bodies of water). A weapon I designed for the Prosthetic Art Challenge by VaatiVidya on Youtube. The Kuru-Kiru, also known as Spring-loaded War Fans A ranged device designed to swiftly close the distance between the target. When launched, the adjoined fans create a whiplash effect, cutting consecutively which causes heavy bleeding. The momentum caused by the steel fans affect the user, carrying them swiftly forward. Utilizing this device, a shinobi can perform farther plunging takedowns.
