This is all that remains of SS Rifle, one of the earliest surviving examples of a small pre-fabricated screw steamer in the British Isles. Rifle was purchased by the Locheil Estate in the 1860s for use on Loch Arkaig, ferrying goods, passengers and mail between the isolated dwellings around the loch. As well as being a practical vessel, Rifle was also used for pleasure, often carrying shooting parties. The boat was laid-up in the 1930s, and whilst being scrapped, sank and lay buried until removed by the army after becoming a hazard to wartime vessels working from the pier. Rifle was blasted away from the pier, losing the bow in the process. Despite being submerged for over half a century, it was raised in 1990. Although in a very fragile condition, Rifle’s propeller is a well-preserved example of an early design. The model was created as a part of ‘Scanning The Horizon’ 3D digitisation project. Maybe we will never know. There is a bike, right there next to the tree, but it have not been moved in ages, and the cup over that table seems to be fairly old. The tiny blue birds have built homes around the thick leaves hanging from the house´s roof, and the woodhouse is almost empty. Is it someone even living here? This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn’t work at all with the scene. Instead I’ve kept it very basic and natural. I don’t think it’s super realistic at all and if I had more time I would probably have devoted more of it to better texturing, but I think for a last-minute project it’s not too bad ^^ 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 8269 polygons.

A new kobold sculpt based on a redesign of kobolds I did a while back. Trying to steer away from the raptor-like look of my last model and go for a more dog-like face. I feel the torso still looks too human, but he’ll have a more animalistic stance if I ever get this model rigged. This particular kobold is named Bo, hopefully we’ll be seeing more of him in the future. I plan to retopologize him in Maya, then do a detail pass in ZBrush to add in scales and wrinkles and such.
