My submission for the first Low Poly challenge of 2021! The combined lighthouse and windmill provides the Lighthouse Keeper with an excellent view of the surrounding reef, unfortunately it lighthouse no longer works as intended, meaning there have been a few… mishaps over the years. Banjo and Kaoozie, from their beloved platform-adventure “collectathon” game, grabbing a Jiggy. The models were meant for updating my Banjo-Kazooie submission for the Source Filmmaker workshop, but I decided against this. But I didn’t want my work to go to waste, so I stylized the models, and uploaded them to Sketch Fab to show off. I also experimented a little of giving the models more detailed textures. More specifically, giving the textures a more rough look. But still keeping a simple, cartoony look. Needless to say though, this was a big hassle to upload and setup, since there are many objects and materials. Realized using Blender, GIMP and Photoshop. The model is rigged but not very well… I currently find rigging very tedious; that is why the pose is minimal. I am an amateur trying to improve my skillset (painted textures in particular). The fur texture was a challenge. In Blender I was using Freestyle lines to achieve a cartoony, hand-drawn style in the renders. For this reason I could not use any transparency in the textures to achieve a more realistic fur. Unfortunately there is no equivalent to Freestyle in Sketchfab (yet!) but I think the model still looks alright with PBR materials. Any constructive criticism is appreciated; I already have a list of things to improve for my next project. This character is my own original creation.
