The house is situated on the corner of Elizabeth Place and High Street West which form part of the main road through Anstruther, this leaves the building and its decoration vulnerable to damage from large vehicles negotiating the corner. Most of the photographs were taken from across the street with a few from the middle of the road when there was no traffic. After searching out some reference images I was inspired by 17th and 18th-century ship living quarters and some of the art and maps that were placed within them. I textured in Substance Painter and did the UV unwrap in blender (I removed some faces and internal objects to save texture space). I started by searching out some reference images of Air Balloons, but whilst there are is great work out there I couldn’t find anything that I thought really matched the model well and that I liked. So I broadened the search to old sailing ships and found some examples of private quarters and the art contained within. Vasa was a Swedish warship that capsized and sank off Beckholmen in Stockholm’s inlet on its maiden voyage, August 10, 1628. After some early unsuccessful attempts to rescue her in the 17th century, Vaasa was largely forgotten. The ship’s approximate position remained known until the middle of the 19th century, but no serious attempts were made to salvage it. In 1956, the amateur researcher and engineer Anders Franzén, together with the diver Per Edvin Fälting, succeeded in re-establishing Vaasa’s exact position and after several years of marine archeological excavations and preparations, Vasa was lifted above the water surface on April 24, 1961. Since 1990 the ship is included in a permanent exhibition in Stockholm. Until 1988, the wreck was stored in Wasavarvet, a temporary building that, in addition to being a combined conservation room, was allowed to function as a temporary museum. This is work in progress.
