Rather than make each region of the spine it’s own upload, it made sense to upload all 4 regions together. In order for me to understand the way the spine works I studied some wonderful models on this site as well as using my own art books to help me figure out what the characteristics are for each region. The Cervical region being far more delicate and intricate for hosing nerves and allowing movement of the head. The Thoracic featuring slightly larger and more simplistic vertebra that create overlaping links at the back to prevent our backs from bending too far the wrong way. They also have longer spinous processes that fold over oneanother. Then the Lumbar region has these really heavy duty vertebra that again interlock to maximise on supporting the weight of the torso. So cool! Lastly the Sacral region which pairs with the hips to form the pelvis! This project was funded by a fiverr customer. Description before creation: “A stylised backpack with military/camping application, similar to fortnite style, open concept”. The Katana Golf Backpack object came with concept art of a similar katana stabbing through a bag. The aim of this bag was to pad out the brightly coloured objects in the game with some duller colours, I think it did that well, however after working on a large number of objects to re-create the fortnite style, I didn’t use any techniques that I found (such as duplicating the AO layer to give a hash shadow on the base colour texture) as this was made earlier on in production when I was trying to find my feet with the style. Got together with a bunch of my buddies one morning and we all took tons of photos (1780) while another friend flew a drone over and around the arch to get the above photos (another 1739). Here’s a screengrab that shows all the camera angles we captured, including the drone shots: The arch is over 24 meters (80 feet) tall and it’s right in the middle of a high traffic intersection, so it presents many challenges, and I’m not even talking about all the trees around it. It’s my first large-scale scan and I hit so many walls with getting it to come out well, largely because ZBrush has a 50 million polygon limit. Anyway, this is the first of many.
