The 3D model presents a historical mannequin (a dress form) dating to 1890. The virtual mannequin was generated automatically by using a new method of parametric modelling (for further details see https://doi.org/10.1108/IJCST-06-2019-0093). The values of body measurements were taken from a sizing table published in “The Cutters Practical Guide to the Cutting of Ladies’ Garments” (V.D.F. Vincent, 1890). The measurements of the mannequin are: bust – 40 inches; waist – 29 inches; hip – 43.5 inches. Remake of one of the film sets from the 1966 science fiction movie “Fantastic Voyage”. The film is about a submarine crew who shrink to microscopic size and venture into the body of an injured scientist to repair the damage to his brain.
The submarine featured in the film, the “Proteus U-91035”, is a nuclear-powered Navy vessel, originally built to study the deep-sea spawning habits of fish. The particular scene, depicted in this model, takes place inside the CMDF headquarters, where (in the film) the Proteus is introduced to the viewer for the first time.
The novel “Fantastic Voyage” was written by Isaac Asimov. The Proteus was designed by Harper Goff, who also created the Nautilus for the movie ‘20.000 Leagues Under the Sea’.

7 years ago, I scanned this Nanotyrannus : https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/nanotyrannus-lancensis-young-t-rex-7b0967fa27674d959647868686b6717b . However, the model was far from perfect.
I figured I would scan it again for the Agisoft Nature Challenge.
This time, I managed to create a watertight model that should be 3D printable. I also set the number of polygons to 300k on purpose : half the weight of the original model, but with more details !
This is a cast of the real fossil of a Nanotyrannus Lancensis found in Gilmore, Montana, in the Hell Creek formation, in 1946. It is about 65 million years old. Scientists used to think Nanotyrannus Lancensis was a species distinct from the famous T-Rex, but recent discoveries tend to show that a nanotyrannus is actually a young T-Rex.
You might ask yourself why the skull is not symmetrical : this deformation occured during the fossilization process.
