Our 12 metre-long, spectacular life-sized skeleton cast of a Tyrannosaurus rex is one of the star attractions at the National Museum of Scotland. Affectionately know as the ‘Wankel rex’, our Tyrannosaurus looks out from the Natural Sciences Galleries into the main hall.
Date T. rex walked the Earth 65 million years ago and was one of the last dinosaurs to have lived before the great extinction wiped out much of life on our planet.’
Found Hell Creek, Montana, by researcher Kathy Wankel in 1988

3D scan of a fossilized ammonite from the Lower Albian (Lower Cretaceous). The mother-of-pearl shell is still visible, which makes this piece special. This ammonite was found in Ambatolafia within the Mahajanga Basin in the northwest of Madagascar. Take a look at a 3D scan of a big block full of fossilized ammonites from the same location here.
This fossil cannot be found in the exhibition of the NHM Vienna. Some other beautiful specimens of this kind can be found in Hall 8 of the NHM Vienna.

Yunnan Province, China, ~518 million years old.
One of the largest of the Chengjiang animals, Amplectobelua was a top predator that used wide body flaps to swim above the sea floor, helped by a stabilising tail fan, with large stalked eyes used to spot prey. It had two spiny frontal appendages for grasping and holding prey, with three pairs of shorter tooth-like appendages used to shred food as it was passed towards the mouth opening.

I’ve been watching a bit too many palaeontology videos lately so I really wanted to model a dinosaur, one of them said, that Tarbosaurs might have had a throat pouch which really intrigued me for some reason and I had to try it out. I also made an efford to make it as scientifically accurate as possible. So here you go, the underdog of the Tyrannosauridae family: Tarbosaurus bataar.
