This is one of those projects in mind long time ago wich finally sees the light. But at last, my beloved Pirate is done. I really love pirate´s stories since I was a kid. Reading a lot about that piece of history, I learned that sometimes is more interesting the real version than the romantic side of it. In this case, my inspiration waved between the fictional character Sophia of A Plage Tale Requiem, (and her absolutely amazing dismissed concept arts) and the impressive Grace O’Malley (a fiery red headed Irish woman born in Ireland in 1530) who was known as a pirate and a trader that even got to meet Queen Elizabeth I. 1942 khaki battle dress blouse. This new style of jacket was developed for better manouverabillity with the increased introduction of motorised vehicles to the military. There are 2 hook and eye fastenings on the collar of the jacket with 5 metal buttons running down the right-hand side of the jacket. There are 2 pockets on either breast fastened with a plain button. On the top of either sleeve is a Cornwall badge in red, and directly brlow is a blue patch with a yellow dragon detailing. There is a slight spot of discoloration on the bottom of the breast pocket on the right- this almost looks like some sort of bleach stain. Inside the jacket is a label that reads “Battledress Blouses, Serge. Size no 6.” And the date stamp is June 1942. This item originates from the collection at Bodmin Keep Musuem, Cornwall, UK. This is Buddha figure was created in 13th century, made of wood, red lacquer, and has a gold leaf and it originates from Burma. The Red Laquered Buddha is part of the the collection of Asian + South East Asian works of art that were personally owned by John Young and then later donated to the John Young Museum of Art in 1999. The BRDM-2 (Boyevaya Razvedyvatelnaya Dozornaya Mashina, Боевая Разведывательная Дозорная Машина, literally “Combat Reconnaissance/Patrol Vehicle”) is an amphibious armoured scout car used by states that were part of the Soviet Union and its allies. The BRDM-2 has a crew of four: a driver, a co-driver, a commander, and a gunner. The BRDM-2 entered service with the Soviet Army in 1962. It was first publicly shown in 1966. It replaced the BRDM-1 in the Soviet and Warsaw Pact armies. Production started in 1962 and went on until 1989, with 7,200 vehicles produced. The BRDM-2 became famous for being the vehicle selected to pull the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev’s coffin during the funeral ceremony in the Red Square.
