This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best. I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born! Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know? I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. A figurine model of the Monumen Nasional (Monas), a large obelisk located in the center of Jakarta, Indonesia. Stylized lightly with aesthetics in mind, as such the dimensions/ratios don’t really conform to the actual monument. Partially inspired by the Civilization 6 artstyle (though I did not nail it exactly). Was created as a test of my modelling/texturing abilities, I’m quite happy with the outcome, while it did not precisely adhere to the idea I had in mind, it was quite good regardless. This is an old model from circa 2000ish I made for racing games of that era (PS2). I was curious to see how something I made 20 years ago would hold up in the Sketchfab renderer. I am pretty pleased with the results overall. This model was made before i knew a lot of tricks in modelling, such as using billboards to do details like badges. There was no normal mapping back then either… I had always loved this car, I still do. This project almost makes me want to remake this model a bit more hirez.
