This Nike football boot was captured using Artec Space Spider and the scan data combined with pictures taken on an iPhone to demonstrate the flexibility and control you get with Artec Studio’s Photo Texture feature. The Phantom GT2 Pro FG was placed on white sheets of paper with black markings to provide additional contrast for the photo texturing, and captured from three positions. In each position, it was completely scanned and photographed (using fixed ISO and autofocus settings and taking care not to shift the boot’s position relative to the background) before turning it. Processing involved registration and fusion of the scans, registration of all the photographs, and projection of the texture onto the 3D mesh. In total, the process took just over two hours. Space Spider’s ability to capture complex surfaces with up to 0.05 mm accuracy and 0.1 mm resolution are evident. Wooden coffin of Pharaoh Amenhotep I of the 18th Dynasty in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt. This coffin is the one in which his body was recovered in the Royal Mummy Cache in tomb DB320 in 1881. However, it is a replacement coffin, having been origianlly made for a priest by the name of Djehutymose. The inscription down the front of the coffin calls upon the god Osiris-Wennefer to provide offerings of bread, beer, oxen, fowl, and all good and pure things to Amenhotep I. Created from 284 photographs (Canon EOS Rebel T5i) using Metashape 1.5.4. A bronze statue of two boys playing leapfrog made by sculptor Katib Mamedov is about 1.6m high. The legs in midair required a careful choice of a scanning angle to provide enough surface for registration. Other than that, the statue was incredibly easy to scan by Artec Eva, and was processed very quickly by Autopilot in Artec Studio. Nested coffins of the Lady Iawttayesheret from the Charlotte Lichirie Collection of Egyptian Art, Michael C. Carlos Museum, Emory University, Atlanta, GA (acc. no. 1999.1.8,a-d). This model shows the inner and outer coffins of the Lady Iawttayesheret who was a “great follower of the Diviine Adoratrice of Amun.” She was the daughter of Padikhnum and Tadiaset. She lived during Egypt’s Dynasty 25 (ca. 760-656 B.C.) in the ancient city of Thebes (Luxor) Egypt. The bottom of the outer coffin, interior of outer coffin, and the interior and foot of the outer coffin lid were not available for scanning and have been false textured here. Created from 454 photographs (165 LG Volt Mobile Phone, and 289 EOS Rebel T5i) using Metashape 1.5.1. The inner coffin and outer coffin base were photographed in November 2015 and the lid of the outer coffin was photographed in May 2019. All were photographed through plexiglass cases in the museum galleries.
