This is a 3D model is from a laser scanning survey of the remains of a slave house chimney (Chimney 3) from the Stafford Plantation on Cumberland Island National Seashore. The Chimneys are a series of 26 hearth and brick remains in three parallel rows that are found nearby the main Stafford plantation house. The site is undergoing restoration treatments and our 3D survey was performed prior to that work, digitally documenting and preserving the site for archival purposes. Our 3D work is additionally assistive with preservation planning and supportive of management needs, and can be utilized for structural repair documentation, monitoring, and condition assessment. Using these models, 3D prints can also be made to examine construction techniques in tactile ways. This ornately carved sandstone monument, said to weigh 20 tons and standing 2 meters high, is at the Archaeological Park and Ruins of Quiriguá, an inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. Taharqa Gate Conservation The Taharqa Gate is situated in what would have been the northern mudbrick enclosure wall of the Small Amun Temple at Medinet Habu. In the aftermath of the destruction of the Temple Area and walls of Ramses III at Medinet Habu, the Ethiopian Kings of the 25th dynasty undertook reconstruction efforts, rebuilding a mudbrick wall encircling the small temple upon the foundations of a wall of the same dimensions erected by Hatshepsut. With these massive mudbrick enclosure walls all but weathered away, the gate now appears as a free standing structure. This cylindrical stone monument (MAHS-IND-ACH-PID-SKT-S-002-F-0012) is located in an Islamic cemetery. It is tilted at an angle and sits on a low circular base made of stone and reinforced with concrete. Although the stone has fractured and been repaired, it is still considered sacred by the local community. Neo gothic Druskininkai Church of Saint Mary’s Scapular slightly reminds a castle of childhood tales. This spacious Church was completed in 1931, the architect – Stefan Szyller, a Pole. His project was finished much earlier, as construction works had been launched even in 1912. Interestingly, the new Church construction started before demolishing the old smaller one that had occupied the same area and had been built in the mid-19th century. The old Church stood inside the new one during masonry works on the new Church walls. Currently on museum display at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine, Florida, this piece originally was located above the ravelin structure - a smaller fortification that provided a first line of defense at the entrance of the fort. This Coat of Arms was removed in 1957 to conserve the piece, and has been on display allowing visitors to the National Park to see it up-close. Today, a replica has been placed where the original Coat of Arms was found. As part of our comprehensive 3D survey, we used structured light scanning and imaging to document both the replica and the original piece. Our data is being used for digital archival preservation, conservation, additional replica creation, and for 3D modeling and public engagement. Our Sketchfab design uses an historic image of the ravelin structure from 1895, showing the Coat of Arms as it was, before its removal.
