This Nike football boot was captured using Artec Space Spider and the scan data combined with pictures taken on an iPhone to demonstrate the flexibility and control you get with Artec Studio’s Photo Texture feature. The Phantom GT2 Pro FG was placed on white sheets of paper with black markings to provide additional contrast for the photo texturing, and captured from three positions. In each position, it was completely scanned and photographed (using fixed ISO and autofocus settings and taking care not to shift the boot’s position relative to the background) before turning it. Processing involved registration and fusion of the scans, registration of all the photographs, and projection of the texture onto the 3D mesh. In total, the process took just over two hours. Space Spider’s ability to capture complex surfaces with up to 0.05 mm accuracy and 0.1 mm resolution are evident.
