I used 3DS Max to start with, gathered a few hundred references… Here is the main source: https://www.parker-kaufman.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/shrimp-boat-jekyll-island.jpg Some of the things the Subject Matter Experts told me to do was to take off the netting, because there was no point… etc…, so I ended up adding little details for fun like the wash bucket and some tires on the sides to add flavor. Grime helps too, cause sea salt tends to just rust anything metal. For that most of the textures were from Quixel megascans that I had to paint a color-coded map, and then Photoshop out the artifacts and other nonsense. Add Weighted Normals from a Maxscript and there ya go. A fully kitted out shrimp boat for Unity! The model is rigged but not very well… I currently find rigging very tedious; that is why the pose is minimal. I am an amateur trying to improve my skillset (painted textures in particular). The fur texture was a challenge. In Blender I was using Freestyle lines to achieve a cartoony, hand-drawn style in the renders. For this reason I could not use any transparency in the textures to achieve a more realistic fur. Unfortunately there is no equivalent to Freestyle in Sketchfab (yet!) but I think the model still looks alright with PBR materials. Any constructive criticism is appreciated; I already have a list of things to improve for my next project. This character is my own original creation.
