A multi-faced sundial in the churchyard of St Marys Church, Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, UK. This sundial (one of two at this location) is thought to date back to the mid 16th century, it is both a fine example and one of the earliest survivors of its type. The sundial is carved from limestone. There have been various restorations, the most recent was in 1971 when the gnomons were replaced. On the north side is carved the coat of arms of the Savage family. The eight statues depict a hero’s life from early childhood to death and weren’t completed until after the death of Schinkel in 1841. The late 14th century alabaster tomb of Goronwy ap Tudur and his wife Myfanwy, prominent members of the family which gave rise to the Tudor dynasty, is located at St Gredifael’s church in Penmynydd, Anglesey. When the tomb chest was originally carved it would undoubtedly have been one of the finest monuments of its time.
