Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower) is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Known as the Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration the tower was renamed when Sheikh Khalifa, the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, granted monetary aid and funding when the original developers experienced financial problems. The building was design, by a team led by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, is derived from Islamic architecture. As the tower rises from the flat desert base, there are 27 setbacks in a spiral pattern, decreasing the cross section of the tower as it rises and creating convenient outdoor terraces. This is a creation that I originally built in “Stormworks: Build and Rescue” and modified using the mystical powers of Blender. Although I tried my best to clean it up, the nature of exporting models from Stormworks means that it’s still a bit rough in some areas. My model attempts to represent the Glen Sannox as she would’ve appeared in her original 1957 configuration, although I took some artistic liberty and added some extra rust on the hull (because it looks cool?). I originally completed this creation in July of 2020, but I realized that my model wasn’t very accurate when compared to the real ship. With this updated version, I’ve almost completely rebuilt my model to be as accurate to the real thing as possible. It’s still not a perfect replica by any means, but hopefully you guys still like it! 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 1105686 polygons.

I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”. My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures. The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series. Workflow: No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size. Done 100% in Blender3D. What I Learned in the Process: Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system.
