This is a tribute to Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)’s most famous artwork, Guernica (1937). The main reason to do this is to echo Picasso’s antiwar message, which I strongly believe is needed more than ever. The backside of this artwork I added a few other Picasso’s artworks to advocate peace, however washed out and fragmented it is. The ox, the “sleeping” soldier, and Pegasus are from one of his early Guernica sketches. The others, most notably his Bouquet of Peace (1958), are sampled from his later works with peace theme. The only 3 animated elements are the flower, the lamp, and the light bulb. To me the flower symbolizes life, the lamp represents hope, and the light bulb embodies technological destruction. As long as life continues and hope lasts, humanity will goes on. I had the privilege to work with the super chill and talented teammate, Gabriel Eekenulv, Skyblivion’s Concept Art Lead. Together we produced this grand and regal set of armor. As a historical arms and armor enthusiast, I often time find it difficult to work with many fantasy concept arts. Most designs sacrifice basic understanding and practicality for “cool” aesthetics which make no sense. When I came across Eekenulv’s armor designs, however, I was in awe. His designs are grand, elegant, and “cool”, yet they maintain insights and functionality of armors, a perfect balance between “Realism” and “Suspension of Disbelieve”. This was one of the most fun project I’ve produced in collaboration with others. Not to mention my Twitch subscribers who took part in submitting poleaxe designs, which eventually developed into the one you see. One of a couple of coils of worn continuous track, from some variant of the US Sherman tank. The earliest continuous track was patented in 1846 as an aid for steam powered traction engines, and was used on gun carriages in the Crimean War. The propulsion system gained popularity at the turn of the century, particularly under the Caterpiller Tractor Company, and was swiftly adopted by armoured fighting vehicles alongside the invention of the tank in the First World War. Based on photographs, I believe this section to be from a late model Sherman, possibly even the M-50 ‘Super’ Sherman variant used by Israel from the 1950’s. The split-section, steel exterior plates don’t seem to appear on earlier models or in European theatres, but let me know if you’re a tank nerd and I’ve got that wrong. This cast iron waffle maker was made from a pattern used by multiple foundries in the 1800s and has no maker’s marks on it, making it impossible to know exactly who made it. It is believed, however, given where the artifact is from, that this particular waffle iron was manufactured by the Terstegge, Gohman & Co. foundry in New Albany, Indiana. This foundry also produced Anchor Stoves & Ranges. Again, there is absolutely no way to know for sure who made it — it’s only an educated guess. This waffle iron produces waffles with a playing cards pattern — hearts, diamonds, etc. This was an extremely popular waffle iron pattern at the time. This artifact is housed at New Albany’s Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site and was digitized using photogrammetry. Whats this? Never seen this car ever before? How did I get the blueprints for it? Well, it’s not a real car :D The 1959 Elwood Iroquois Brillare Special, the best thing to happen to the human race since sliced bread. The Elwood brand is an American luxury brand and entirely fictional. About a month ago I made a car in Automation, I was quite impressed with it and had wanted to make a fully detailed model basing it off of a car I had previously made in Automation, so I did that with this one. This car took pretty much a whole month to make, with some minor distubrances from other jobs and stuff. Very pleased with how it turned out. The most unique proposal in the AAFSS competition came from the San Diego division of Convair. The Model 49 did not fit the normal mold for either an airplane or a helicopter, and represented something entirely new. This sculpture of standing Buddha is located at swayambhunath temple in Kathmandu. Built in 15th century, placed at the front side of the hill, on the old route to the stupa. These egg-shaped jars were roughly 50 centimeters tall by 30-40 cm in diameter. The St. Johns Wreck, believed to be that of the 1564 galleon Santa Clara, carried at least 130 olive jars; most broke when the ship wrecked – we only know the number by tallying the surviving rims. This rim has an outside diameter of 9.2 cm, and stands 4 cm tall. Princess Azula from Avatar: The last Airbender character model. A personal project to further develop my learning at University and just aquire more knowledge with industry software. I started in Zbrush, retopologised in Maya, posed in Zbrush, baked and textured in Substance Painter. I am pretty happy with the outcome being my first character retopology and although there is a lot of stuff I would do different if I was to make it again, I believe it is better to take all the new lessons learnt onto my next project. Two Komainu #3 (Guardian Lions) from Shinto Shrine A pair of stone lion-dogs often flank the sandō near the entrance to the shrine or the haiden. These komainu, as the statues are known, are guardian figures believed to protect the space around the kami from evil. The ultimate origins of these lionlike figures probably extend back to ancient India or even Egypt, but the more immediate source would appear to be Chinese. Guardian lions and other divine beasts were probably imported from Tang China, along with Buddhism, via the Korean Peninsula, accounting for their alternate name, kōrai-inu, or Korean dogs. Most komainu closely resemble the so-called Chinese lion-dog. Typically, one of the creatures is depicted with its mouth open and the other with its mouth closed.
