The harquebusier was the most common form of cavalry found throughout Western Europe during the early to mid-17th century. Early harquebusiers were characterised by the use of a type of carbine called a “harquebus”. In England, harquebusier was the technical name for this type of cavalry, though in everyday usage they were usually simply called ‘cavalry’ or ‘horse’. In Germany they were often termed Ringerpferd, or sometimes Reiter, in Sweden they were called lätta ryttare.
The armour comprises a Pot Helmet with two-piece skull joined by a low-comb, neck-guard (Lobster tail) of simulated lames and pointed peak or visor with three-bar guard hinged at each side to allow it to be raised when not needed. At each side are the cheek pieces for protection, hinged by means of leather strips.

This particular set of two-piece cuirass (nimai-do gosoku) armour is of exceptionally high quality. During the Edo period (1615-1868) the Tokugawa shogunate enacted a four-class system. The warrior class was the hegemonic group, and armour and other related items were displayed to demonstrate their power and prestige.
Armour during the Heian, Kamakura, Muromachi, and Momoyama periods was utilitarian, meant to protect its wearer from injury in battle. Japanese medieval warfare often involved a series of duels where combatants would call out their lineage and rank, offer a challenge and then agree or decline to fight. In this situation the identity of the combatants would be clear. This is a 3D model of an ancient marble statue in the Glyptotek Museum in København, Denmark. It is a sculpture of the Roman emperor Trajan. The statue depicts Trajan in a standing position with pieces of both arms missing from the statue. Trajan ruled Rome from 98 to 117 CE. He was seen as a very benevolent ruler and was most known for projects that benefited the Roman society. Such projects include constructing aqueducts and building public baths.
