First test with Agisoft Photoscan on a piece of lawn decor from my front yard. Showing here a game-ready low-poly LOD group. PROCESS 32 pictures were taken on my T3i around the owl using Magic Latern for Dual ISO (gives me a higher dynamic range to cancel out shadows). These were then taken into Agisoft for point cloud and high poly mesh generation. Once I have my high poly I take that into Instant Meshes to generate 3 levels of an LOD group (shown in my models here). These are taken into Blender for a quick UV unwrap, then re-exported to Substance Designer. In Substance Designer I bake down my base colour, normals, AO, curvature, and position data from my high poly to each low poly in the LOD group. The base colour is run through some AO cancellation and the new high frequency/low frequency light cancellation nodes. The roughness is created using a generator which takes the AO and curvature data to create grunge. For this peice I wanted to create something that combined sculpting, traditional modelling and texture painting. I created a highly detailed ring with some deep engravings and then moved onto the ring box. I utilised the upper ring box to showcase a detailed ornate elvish drawing, and accented it with stars. The rigging was quite tricky as I had to hide a humanoid skeleton inside the body to get the arms to work properly. Quite pleased with the results. In ancient Greek mythology Ethiopian princess Andromeda was bound to a rock amid the waves of the Red sea. Why? Her mother, Cassiopeia boasted that Andromeda is far more beautifull then all the nymphs of the sea! This angered the god Poseidon who sent a monster creature, Cetus (Ketos) to torment people of ancient Ethiopia. The beautifull princess was to be eaten by a sea moster to soothe the anger of the god! In the very last moment a hero - Perseus flew (on Hermes winged sandals) and saved the princess from the vile beast. Here is where the official myth ends and my own artistic interpretation of it begins. When researching Andromeda, I could only find white, pale damsels in distress. Angered by this I wanted to depict Andromeda as a true African princess. I disliked the concept of a helpless damsel and decided to give her some character. I also wanted to portray Ketos as a bewildered sea dragon not an angry whale. One of three (and the hardest) commission pieces done for Second Life. Always open for quotes First time properly using Substance Painter - Croix De Guerre 1939, given to brave souls who fought along side the allies during WW2. Some areas aren’t as accurate as I’d like them to be due to having to work around an issue in photoshop (had to mess about with the UV a little, so there’s a tiny bit of weirdness). That said, this has been an important breakthrough in my workflow and I’ve finally entered the realm of PBR. Whilst I do own (and quite like) Quixel, its shortcomings are mostly performance based, whereas Substance does very well in this case. The thing with Substance is pinpoint accuracy is at a loss along with important things like proper brush scaling on both U and V. I’ve yet to check out the latest version of Substance though. In an effort to fully absorb and capture the Gearbox look with the Borderlands series and enrich my character portfolio, I chose to model out an unused NPC concept from the Borderlands 3 art book by Sergi Brosa. Very minimal guidance was given to me from Gearbox besides what limitations their current engines may be able to support and I pulled apart various character work to see how optimization could benefit a character. I optimized this character to have customizable character design to alter symmetry options and enable re-use of character elements for other NPC characters. Originally the church was built in the second half of the 17th century in the village of Velké Loučky near Mukačevo (today’s Zakarpatska Ukraine). The whole building was made of wood and ranks amongst the most beautiful peasant buildings of this region. The timbered church is more than 14m long and is about 8m in width. The main and also the tallest steeple is over 17m tall. The village of Velké Loučky sold the church to its richer neighbour village so called Medvedovce in 1793. The building was taken apart and put together again in its new place. The church was given to the Prague City and transferred in 1929. I was really curious on the particular art style the Valheim’s devs went for, so i tried to replicate it and make a scene for it! Had a real fun time on this one. Most of the texture here are made by downscaling to something between 50x50 and 100x100, depending on the size of the object, and then upscaling to a normal txt size (512 or 1024), keeping the hard edges of the pixels. This method specifically on the normal map is what gives really strange results that match the art style.
