Hello! This Rad looking gas mask is one of my favourite pieces of survival equipment. There’s a good chance you recognize it as it’s especially iconic and appears in various media as a cool looking respirator, despite rarely being named. It’s been used by many different military and civilian organisations, not the least of which was British special forces, who used versions in both counter terrorist and “regular” operations overseas by both the SAS and SBS. This was modelled off of an Ex-police example that I own because I’m a massive nerd. As for the model itself, it uses mostly 2K maps, was Modelled in 3DSMax and baked in xnormal. I was pleasantly surprised at the effect a good cavity map had in PBR! Actually turned out fairly high poly, but a few LODS helped that in-engine. Bust mesh from Polycount wiki. (Thanks!) Though it ended up a bit too polygon-heavy, I am still happy how this turned out. My main difficulty was to render out curvature maps for the rust and scratch effects in Substance painter, but Xnormal does a good enough job after some tweaking around in Substance Painter. This is a model based off of Joe Petagno’s cover art for the 1986 album “Orgasmatron” by Motörhead. Petagno is the original artist behind Motörheads famous boar-like figurehead and the guy behind their album art. He has also created Led Zeppelins famous Icarus character and artwork for many other bands of different genres, even covers for sci-fi books. This character model was part of a game project for my final course this spring. This character was the main character in our game “Jeniah”, and she was the one the players played as. Our game project was very inspired by Souls-games like Dark Souls and a little bit of Bloodborne, and so I did my best to try and get the rigth “feeling” for the characters. For this one I had a sketched concept art of the upper-half of the body made by one of my teammates, but I had to edit the shoulderpads to fit the game more, so the ones in this final model are edited. The rest I came up with on my own. I had four days to make this character as well. Base body modeled in Zbrush. Cloth in Marvelous Designer, armour, hairplanes, and retopologization in Maya. Textured in Substance Painter. For the hairplanes, I rendered the textures from creating hair clumps in XGen and then using XNormals to get the different textures 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 67808 polygons.
