Hello, this is my version of “Apylon, the Soul-Render” by Blizzard. I felt like this is such a cool sword, I wanted to give it a remake, and ended up making a sword quite different from Blizzards own style. For modelling I used. “3DS Max” (basemesh, retopo cleanup, and unwrap) & “ZBrush” for the highpoly. A faraam armour knight I created for my Masters degree final year project. Based on the concepts and artwork of the Faraam Armour from Dark souls 2 & 3. The character is around 70k polys, with about 30k of that being hair cards. Sculpted in Zbrush and retopped in 3ds Max, textured in Substance Painter and Designer. Hair cards were created using Maya Xgen. This is a work in progress of a personal project i have been working on. Ever since working on our previous project Aurora, i’ve always been thinking of ways to integrate interesting and powerful scultptures into the environment that will dwarf the player in awe. This was a piece i couldn’t get out of my mind the most though. I wanted to explore how an ancient civiliasation would visulaize the journey of a soul from the mortal plane to the after life. Taking themes from Michalangelos ‘Creation of Adam’, the piece represents the connection between Human and God. travelling from one domain to another represented through a staircase running up both beings hands.
