I’ve been working on this project since mid January now and it’s finally finished! Everything is modelled in Blender and the textures are painted in Photoshop. Diffuse and Alpha maps only. I thought I would create a scene with a small story behind it. The mysterious tiny wizard was experimenting with his rare mandrake Root and home grown crystals. He found an old recepice on how to create a special magic potion with the ancient root. By trying it out, he mixes the wrong ingredients together, which turns out to be a magic spell for opening portals. These komainu, as the statues are known, are guardian figures believed to protect the space around the kami from evil. A photogrammetry scan of the Haunted Mansion Entrance Plaque. I remapped the UV texture and painted it in Substance painter. I wish it looked good but there are a few foreign triangles that look bad when zoomed in, partiallly from me attempting to reduce triangles. I hope it still looks good though. The original file was in misplaced in my old models folder and while I’ve seen many etsy sellers who have used this model, I cant find the original poster. I’ve been watching these mushrooms grow in a little patch of forest near my house and the #AgisoftNatureChallenge provided a good incentive to see how well they’d scan. I was a bit surprised at how some of the details like the ant colony entrance turned out. All in all, it was a good experience trying to capture something that I might not have attempted otherwise. Model made from 132 12MB images taken with a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and processed in Metashape using “High” quality settings.
