Yes, this was a hell of a scan… it look me 10-15 minutes to walk the entire street. Shootout to @polycam app (@cpheinrich), that handled the capture from the beginning to the end of this 560 ft long scan (170 m.)! Try to navigate through the scan using the annotations. Clarion Alley is a small street in SF between Mission and Valencia Streets, notable for its world renowned murals. To me it’s the Street Arts Mecca, and it tell so much about the history of SF past decades, its mystical bohemian tradition, the challenges faced by its communities, and much more. The wall decoration was reconstructed starting from fragments of painted plaster found in Bishopsgate ca.1850, now at the British Museum. The lost parts of the walls were recreated using examples from Verulamium (St Albans) and Colchester. The mosaic selected for this reconstruction was found in Silchester. The krater (vase used to mix wine) at its centre shares the Bacchic theme of the wall paintings, which depict satyrs holding grapes and a thyrsus. All the objects in the room are based on Roman originals. The table in this reconstruction was found in Herculaneum, where it was carbonised during the eruption of Mt. A 14th century farmer using a heavy plough pulled by oxen. I was approached by BuildersBrew to create a small diorama of a Medieval Farmer ploughing the fields, this was based off of some references provided and is to be used within the immersive mobile app for The Chester House Estate. Conservation with the overall tricount, texture space and alpha usage in the project was important to make sure the model could load well in the application, the texture for the character was 4k for this render however this was reduced to 2k in the application and the overall tricount came in at around 70k for the whole project. The garment was modelled by using historical block patterns, 2D scans of textile materials and 3d scans of contemporary actors.
