Full name: Ner Tamid Lamp from the Great Synagogue in Oświęcim, Poland Known as Ner Tamid (Hebrew: “eternal light”), the lamp symbolises the presence of divine light and as such should be kept aflame in a synagogue at all times, regardless whether the temple is open. This tradition is a reminder of the everlasting menorah in the Temple in Jerusalem (also known as The First Temple). The lamp on display was discovered, alongside other objects, during archeological excavations conducted in 2004 on the site once occupied by the Great Synagogue in Oświęcim, before it was razed to the ground by the Nazis in November 1939. Vasa was a Swedish warship that capsized and sank off Beckholmen in Stockholm’s inlet on its maiden voyage, August 10, 1628. After some early unsuccessful attempts to rescue her in the 17th century, Vaasa was largely forgotten. The ship’s approximate position remained known until the middle of the 19th century, but no serious attempts were made to salvage it. In 1956, the amateur researcher and engineer Anders Franzén, together with the diver Per Edvin Fälting, succeeded in re-establishing Vaasa’s exact position and after several years of marine archeological excavations and preparations, Vasa was lifted above the water surface on April 24, 1961. Since 1990 the ship is included in a permanent exhibition in Stockholm. Until 1988, the wreck was stored in Wasavarvet, a temporary building that, in addition to being a combined conservation room, was allowed to function as a temporary museum. This is work in progress. Produced by Virtualsweden AB. I am currently looking for sponsors to this project. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 783546 polygons.
