Terezin, the historical military fortress town, is most infamously the location of the Nazis’ Theresienstadt Ghetto. Since 1941 the ‘’Dresden Barracks’‘ was the place where women were placed, originally together with their children. Yet some of the rooms were used for theater and othercultural performances. On the barracks courtyard, the prisoners were permitted to play football (teams had 7 players), which made the location world famous.

Due to aeronautic restrictions, I couldn’t get closer than 1km when I shot this place. I used a 200mm lens, so that the resolution is about 3-5 cm. Therefore it is a really unique model, neither drones nor planes can get any closer.

This ornately carved sandstone monument, said to weigh 20 tons and standing 2 meters high, is at the Archaeological Park and Ruins of Quiriguá, an inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. The piece was 3D laser scanned in 2019 during our extensive documentation survey at the site by our USF Libraries DHHC team. We utilized structured light scanners at various sub-millimetric resolutions on this monument. Besides the rich iconography carved on this ceremonial throne, the text in the cartouches describe the founding of the Quiriguá dynasty (see also Matthew Looper’s Quirigua: A Guide to an Ancient Maya City, 2007 for discussion and additional references). Tiya is an archaeological site in central Ethiopia. It is located in the Soddo woreda, in the Gurage Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region south of Addis Ababa. It is best known for its archaeological site its large stone pillars, many of which bear some form of decoration. The archeological site was designated a World Heritage Site in 1980, due to the unique nature of these monolithic monuments.
