Engraved on the statue, the games from the series that I have completed so far. My first attempt at handpaint (well, months ago I did one with the mouse, but that doesn’t count :P), and I’m really really satisfied with the mood of the scene and the result :D It’s quite a change from my usual style. At a strip mall across town is this concrete Statue of Liberty. I’ve driven by it for years. I decided to do a quick and dirty model of it. By the time I got to the strip mall, the sun was close to setting and I had to hurry. As you can see, South Dakota seasons are hard on decorative concrete sculptures like this one. The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete. This model is just the latest generation cast from a prototype I first saw in the 1980s when the Statue of Liberty’s centennial was approaching. Liberty fever was on the rise and someone cashed in by creating this stylized replica. It has been recreated in aluminum, fiberglass and concrete. It can be found in numerous statuary and garden centers. This is a modular enviroment scene that was created for my second assessment at AIE where we needed to create six+ objects to build a modular scene and texture it. I tried to achieve a wow/diablo feel to my scene in a PBR workflow. Here is the desciption I wrote for the scene at the begining of the saaseesment: An old and forgotten crypt, a shaft of moonlight coming from a hole in the ceiling falls upon a large stone coffin at the back of the room up a small set of stairs. The coffin has a banner lying on top of it as if marking a hero or a king, down the stairs is a larger room with a carpets running across the room. On some of the walls there is a arched inset with a candles and a plaque with some writing on it that cant be read correctly due to age and erosion. The 3D model presents a digital reconstruction of a pair of shoes dating to the 3rd century AD. The reconstructed shoes were found on the feet of a male bog body at Obenaltendorf in Germany. The shoes are of a carbatina type, meaning that they are made from one piece of leather. This piece is sewn shut at the back to form a heel. The shoes are worn by inserting a lace through the tabs that can be tightened and closed. The reconstruction was made by using original cutting pattern provided by Martin Moser (https://www.pinterest.ru/martinmoser/). The piece of hide was wrapped around the foot in Clo3D software, textured in Substance Painter and post-processed in 3dsMax. The authors are Martijn A.
