He started as a class project, but I never felt I did the original concept art justice after the one week I had to work on him, so I decided to resculpt and finally get around to texturing him. I had to fix a lot of stuff as well as optimize him for him to be game ready! I’m very happy with how this guy turned out, and it was a good piece to practice all aspects of the pipeline since I did a lot of back and forth changes. Then I had to model that gun too, which also took a million years… However, it was the most fun personal project I’ve ever done, and I learned so much from it! I will definitely be making more character art in the future. The alien in question is a Covenant Elite Zealot or Sangheili Zealot. I’m a huge fan of Halo and I was shocked to realize I’ve never done 3D Halo stuff before. So I chose to make an HD remake of the classic Halo CE elite zealot, with some of my own changes here and there. The high res model was done in Zbrush, retopo in 3dcoat, texture process in Substance Painter, rigged inside Maya with Advanced Skeleton and finally rendered inside marmoset and for the high res model keyshot (overwatch tribute), some final retouch inside Photoshop.
