Yurt is a round-shaped, sophisticated construction with a dome. If explain its structure in
simple words, it consists of three main parts and many other smaller parts. Three main
parts include Shanyrak – top of the Yurt, Kerege – walls carcass and Uwyk – a carcass
part from Kerege to the Shanyrak. The carcass is usually covered with pieces of felt from
outside and decorated with carpets from inside.
It should be noted, that Shanyrak is extremely valuable for Kazakhs and is considered to
be a sacred symbol of family wellbeing and piece.
Yurt usually does not have rooms in it, and it was a common practice to have a separate
Yurt as a bedroom, separate one as a kitchen, guesthouse, etc as long as people could

Felt a bit sci-fi this week and made a Gauss sci-fi turret, with of course a lot of cool glowy lights and metal plates.

This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. This was created as part of Ashleigh Warners’ ‘Creating Stylized Game Assets’ course available through CGMA. I completed my first draft last November, but I went back over it and made as many changes as possible to get it to a place I felt confident in sharing.
This is MEEPO, or the Mega Express Espresso Processing Operator 3000. The initial idea was to have this retro-futuristic coffee-station diorama that sold a particular kind of mundane story (even if it was in a sort of space-setting).
Either way, this is my first fully-completed hand-painted project and I couldn’t be happier! It was created through a mix of Blender, 3Ds Max, 3D Coat, Substance Painter and Photoshop!

A ship from the ’90s Expanded Universe, the I7 Howlrunner was a small starfighter developed by Incom Corporation (the same manufacturers as the X-wing) for the Empire. Probably best-known from the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, I stayed pretty faithful to the design, but made a couple of angles slightly more exciting and a little less boxy.
Out-of-universe, the ship’s design is probably an homage to the Buck Rogers Thunderfighter, concepted by Ralph McQuarrie, who also worked on Star Wars’ fighters. I wanted to make sure my version felt Star Wars-y enough, so I textured it in an extremely similar to the style of the OT X-wings. I hope you enjoy this slightly obscure ship model! Over several assessments I have made and worked on some assets and wanted to display them, but felt that they were lacking just being on their own. Many of these assets were toy like, and I brainstormed different scenes I could fit them into.
I decided on a child’s room, and built some supporting assets to build the corner of a room.
I challenged myself to complete it within a day, though I ended up using most of a second day as well. Overall it was a simple, fun scene, and a nice break from character work.

Model of Asuka Langley the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion! Posed as she is in her official artwork – spunky and tsundere.
I wanted to do a chibi model of Asuka after working on the Mass Produced Evangelion character (also visible on my page!), and in the end I think she came out really cute! I like modeling cute things truthfully as well as figurative characters, so this project was definitely a lot of fun. It was once again a big learning experience though, as I really tried to work on things like facial topology, that anime-feeling style, and being painterly with my textures. I still have a long way to go of course, but this felt like a big milestone that I’m happy to have done!

A personal project I started in September that got pushed back due to university work. After finishing the game I knew I had to make something for my portfolio to show praise as I am one of the few people with the controversial opinion that the game is a masterpiece, ultimately becoming my favourite game I’ve ever played. I’m a huge fan of Joel and Ellie and I was very invested in the continuation of their story.
I chose to model the guitar that Joel gives to Ellie as I felt that it was a physical embodiment of their relationship which is my favorite thing about the games. It’s also different to a lot of my other portfolio pieces as I tend to model weapons.
I found this piece quite challenging as the sunburst pattern on the body of the guitar took some time to get right as I had not done too much hand painted texturing within Substance Painter but I am very happy with the results.
