The names on the coffin are a little bit difficult to translate because of the way the glyphs are stacked together, and because the filiation of the deceased is expressed as it would be in Demotic instead of Middle Egyptian. In fact, there is a final glyph on the name of the coffin’s owner that experts are still trying to figure out, so the rendering of her name as Tadinanefer is provisional. Her father’s name is likely Pakhered. Her mother is Ireteru, which is a common name for men and women during the Saite period and later. None of them have any titles. It took a bit of time to get my UV’s laid out well enough to have the resolution I wanted, and I ended up going from 1 texture set to 2 in order to achieve the level of detail I wanted. I really wanted to make a scifi character in his combat suit. I was inspired by Star Citizen, but Halo’s designs are really the best ones for this. For the process, at first I made the lowpoly model in Maya, then I went to Zbrush to subdivide it and put all the details needed with my own alphas. I baked the highpoly model in susbtance painter, and then I tried to make several smart materials to texture the whole character. I also did 2 different camos, because I needed a character that could fit in my upcoming space station project. My texturing/material skills are not a strength yet so I was keen on exploring what detail I could achieve with using very simple painted textures. The whole project was mainly created using Blender, with a little bit of Photoshop for painting and post processing. The HDRI environment texture used was sourced from https://hdrihaven.com/ “nagoya_wall_path”. At first I was planning to just produce a render from one angle, but later decided it would be nice to show off in Sketchfab. I then baked all textures for import into Sketchfab, it was a busy scene so I had to make some sacrifices in texture quality.
