My first tryout with my new camera (Sony a6500), paired with a Sigma 30mm C lens. These shoes are relatively ooold :), but they’re special. At that time i was ‘fan’ of the Adidas Goodyear shoes because of the sleek and slim design and their undestructibility. Then Adidas started collaborating with Porsche and came with these (as their first i think?). Now they make for awesome looking worn out shoes. Took around 300 photos, processed at maximum resolution in Agisoft. PBR materials created in Substance painter. Remeshing done with Instant Meshes. Finally my currently biggest project is done after 5 months later smiling_face. That was a really great experience for me and personally that was a great success for this year. Before starting this project I had no idea about creating realistic game ready charecter, realistic scultping, hair creating etc but with this project I learned lots of new things about these ones. Learning workflow was the most important thing in this project for me because I had a lot of empty blocks in my mind about game ready character modelling. Except of that definitely creating hair was the hardest part for me I did lots of hair card try but unfortunately I didn’t like not of them so I used ready hair card from marketplace but I am really happy with the final version. This is Tik-Tok, a Royal Guard of Oz. He helps protect Dorothy during her revisit to Oz. He is my favorite, since there is so much going on with his character and how he operates in the world. Unfortunately, there were some issues carrying him over into Sketfab for some reason. The UV’s for the normals and bumpmaps didnt carry over correctly either. And most of his buttons and in quite a few other places, the polygons forgot how to keep their shape, so he’s very broken right now. A lot of smooth edges became hard edges and his overall mesh quality suffered. Originally, i was going to model him because I could, but then thought I could bring him into VRChat, so its visible where I started to hold back on the polygon count. I’ll update him eventually. After a long time of sitting unfinished, here he is! This guy has been collecting dust in my computer files for a while. He started as a class project, but I never felt I did the original concept art justice after the one week I had to work on him, so I decided to resculpt and finally get around to texturing him. I had to fix a lot of stuff as well as optimize him for him to be game ready! I’m very happy with how this guy turned out, and it was a good piece to practice all aspects of the pipeline since I did a lot of back and forth changes. So this project began being another hand paint piece, but then I started trying post processing effects here in Sketchfab and I realized it looked quite good as a grayscale. This is the first time I use the post-processing so much, up to the point it’s changing the whole final result. I’m still happy with this project. I used Geometry nodes to spawn different elements on the ground. The leaves texture for the trees is not complete since I didn’t have enough time to get into that level of detail. We were using Oculus (VR) and it was also going to be small in your field of view, so I knew I had to be efficient with my polygons. I used 3DS Max to start with, gathered a few hundred references… Here is the main source: https://www.parker-kaufman.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/shrimp-boat-jekyll-island.jpg Some of the things the Subject Matter Experts told me to do was to take off the netting, because there was no point… etc…, so I ended up adding little details for fun like the wash bucket and some tires on the sides to add flavor. Grime helps too, cause sea salt tends to just rust anything metal. For that most of the textures were from Quixel megascans that I had to paint a color-coded map, and then Photoshop out the artifacts and other nonsense. At a strip mall across town is this concrete Statue of Liberty. I’ve driven by it for years. I decided to do a quick and dirty model of it. By the time I got to the strip mall, the sun was close to setting and I had to hurry. As you can see, South Dakota seasons are hard on decorative concrete sculptures like this one. The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete. This model is just the latest generation cast from a prototype I first saw in the 1980s when the Statue of Liberty’s centennial was approaching. Liberty fever was on the rise and someone cashed in by creating this stylized replica. It has been recreated in aluminum, fiberglass and concrete. It can be found in numerous statuary and garden centers. I started this project in order to practice my hand-painting skills as well as some more organic modelling. I used Zbrush, Blender and Substance Painter.
