Third project in 3DS Max! As always I had a lot of fun making this project but this one seemed to take awhile to get a well structured lion head. Luckily I have a lot of great friends to help critique my work during the process and it always leads to something much stronger than I begin with, otherwise this lion may still be looking like an angry bullfrog. My friends also suggested I have a bit of a fixation on things with gems in their head. Hello everyone! Here is something that has been in the works, for the longest time, between clients and regular projects, the sequel to my basic sculpted 3D model in Zbrush , posted roughly 5 months ago, which was a sequel to my personal custom combo challenge idea, where I asked people to select a combination from my prompt list, and I would invent for them a concept based on the combination they chose. Of all those ink 2D drawings, i liked this one the most so i decided to take a stab at it. The development was extreemly slow, as I was constantly busy , so sometimes weeks passed, one time 2 months passed without me even touching it, and the rest of the time sometimes I took 2 hours, sometimes only 10 minutes....untill… NOW. :D It is finally done. My contribution to the #AngelsAndDemonsChallenge with this Hellboy version of mine. It’s been a long time since I wanted to work on this character from Mignola being a huge fan of his work. At the exact same time i started working on this model, the challenge went live, so it was the occasion to participate. I don’t know if it’s okay since i didn’t create the original character to begin with, but the overall redesign, posing and sculpting is mine, so i’m trying anyway ! I used Zbrush and maya for the sculpt/modeling part and substance painter for the baking. I also wanted too stay light on the details to keep the stylized design intact and not fall into hyperrealism. I’m working on a full textured version wich should be live in a couple of days. This was a PvP Arena I made for my friend’s minecraft v1.11.2 server. Players could fly around with my custom command block jetpack mechanism in the arena (sneak ingame to activate). They could run accross the dragon skeleton and use the rib cages as cover. They could also hit the fireballs at the corner towers to send it flying to opponents.   The overall style is based on the ruins in the game Journey, with a combination of the stepwell of Chand Baori from India, and Egyptian temples.   Minecraft map download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/o44ayb9c0be4bnp Build in minecraft v1.11.2 using default textures and worldedit plugin. Aka: A Crappy Animator - 3 Making tests to animate the dolphin kick movement, in order to later recreate freediving underwater scenes. The model and armature were created in makehuman, and animated in blender using keyframes. As the movement was irregular, I had to use “Smooth keys” operator in the f-curve editor, which gave pretty good results although it reduces the amplitude of the movements. A rotund rat enjoying a cigarette. Workflow: Maya (Lowpoly) -> Zbrush Sculpt (HiPoly) -> Maya (Cloth + Smoke simulation) -> Substance (PBR Pass) -> Sketchfab So some things I did with this one were use Maya fluid simulations and then made duplicates of the geometry on each frame of the simulation. To animate this, ‘Visbility’ was animated on stepped mode to ‘on’ and ‘off’. The cloth was shaped using nCloth and the table as a collider. This was baked into static mesh. All of the models have mesh maps and hi polys that were baked in Substance (curvature, thickness, etc.). The hair was made in photoshop with transparency and then placed card by card on the mesh.
