None of it is meant to hold up in closeups, but it looks great from afar. The whole thing is ~5.5k tris, so if you want a hangar full or a fleet of them, it won’t slow down your scene. Perfect for all your imperial needs! PBR textures made in Substance Painter. The exterior is 2k, the interior is 1k, the pilot is 512x512. Cutting in the windows a couple years after the outside model was done made for some very messy topology around them, but the overall ship is still low poly enough, and no one will notice. The glass is also currently single-sided, just to be more performant than trying to have glass with thickness and refraction. Vasa was a Swedish warship that capsized and sank off Beckholmen in Stockholm’s inlet on its maiden voyage, August 10, 1628. After some early unsuccessful attempts to rescue her in the 17th century, Vaasa was largely forgotten. The ship’s approximate position remained known until the middle of the 19th century, but no serious attempts were made to salvage it. In 1956, the amateur researcher and engineer Anders Franzén, together with the diver Per Edvin Fälting, succeeded in re-establishing Vaasa’s exact position and after several years of marine archeological excavations and preparations, Vasa was lifted above the water surface on April 24, 1961. Since 1990 the ship is included in a permanent exhibition in Stockholm. Until 1988, the wreck was stored in Wasavarvet, a temporary building that, in addition to being a combined conservation room, was allowed to function as a temporary museum. This is work in progress. This model is probably about 85% accurate, although I’ve gone for a more standard imperial gray to match the Lambda shuttle, rather than the black and orange we first saw in Rogue One. Fits in really well with the rest of the Empire’s fleet. The wings and laser cannon turrets are all separate objects with the correct pivot points to rotate into flight mode. A few areas are very slightly simplified to keep the polycount low, and everything uses the same 2048x2048 textures. It also has a rough cockpit interior just with some glowing lights to add a bit of depth, but if you want to save performance you can delete it and make the windows opaque. Enjoy! I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”. My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures. The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series. Workflow: No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size. Done 100% in Blender3D. What I Learned in the Process: Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system.
