Its definitely a habit of mine to interrupt a profile with an architectural or angular structure, usually on the head. It always just seems nicely jarring. I’m surprised its taken me this long to model a devil, as it is pretty much all I used to draw as a teenager having come across the gothic oddites of Jacques Callot, Abrecht Dürer and Hieronymous Bosch. And Doré, of course. His devils aren’t as pleasantly animalistic as the other guys’, but there’s something about the way that he congregates and arranges them in his prints that I haven’t seen done anywhere else. There’s something in the way Doré renders his demon wings that’s completely beyond description. First test with Agisoft Photoscan on a piece of lawn decor from my front yard. Showing here a game-ready low-poly LOD group. PROCESS 32 pictures were taken on my T3i around the owl using Magic Latern for Dual ISO (gives me a higher dynamic range to cancel out shadows). These were then taken into Agisoft for point cloud and high poly mesh generation. Once I have my high poly I take that into Instant Meshes to generate 3 levels of an LOD group (shown in my models here). These are taken into Blender for a quick UV unwrap, then re-exported to Substance Designer. In Substance Designer I bake down my base colour, normals, AO, curvature, and position data from my high poly to each low poly in the LOD group. The base colour is run through some AO cancellation and the new high frequency/low frequency light cancellation nodes. The roughness is created using a generator which takes the AO and curvature data to create grunge. The split-section, steel exterior plates don’t seem to appear on earlier models or in European theatres, but let me know if you’re a tank nerd and I’ve got that wrong. Designed and constructed on commission of King Friedrich I. by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1921 replacing a wooden bridge used mainly for the transport of material for the construction of the Berlin Palace. The eight statues depict a hero’s life from early childhood to death and weren’t completed until after the death of Schinkel in 1841. During the Second World War, they were taken down and stored at a safe location. After the war, the bridge, left mostly undamaged, was part of the east zone, whilst the statues were stored in the west and not returned until the mid-1980s. the city palace was torn down and the bridge redubbed Marx-Engels-Bruecke. this was reverted in 1991 on the first anniversary of the German reunification.
