Did a scan of one of our company shirts for a quick project. This is the first time I’ve combined two sides of a soft-body scan - cloth tends to be somewhat floppy. To flip the shirt without messing up the fold pattern, I made a sort of cardboard sandwich I could press together. I also overexposed the shots to improve the scan. The cleanup wasn’t too bad. Even after deleting points from the platforms from the dense cloud they still made their way into the mesh a little. Ended up taking those out in Max, then smoothing things over in ZBrush. I also used ZBrush for the decimation and unwrap, and was really happy about the results. I like Max’s peel feature, but UV Master in ZBrush goes so much faster and gets rid of all the overlaps even if the result is bent a little. I also still need to find a faster way to patch up seams. There was one towards the “south” side of the shirt that I had to a 2nd channel unwrap -> bake -> photoshop -> bake to ch1 -> mask into texture approach. In Hunnic and Turkic culture, the left or East is considered the superior cardinal direction; hence, a prince associated with the East would often be designated as heir to the khanate. As such, the horse, symbolizing the nomad, is placed on the East in contrast to the dragon that represents the Han, or non-bow wielding peoples. Nonetheless, both the horse and the dragon are shown to be powerless against the wolves that represent Hunnic superiority. Stylistically, the buckles emulate the classic look of Xiongnu and Hunnic jewelry: gold, granulated, with carnelians/agate stones, and cloud and predatory based motiffs. The belt is still a work in progress. The symbolic descriptions are not meant to be offensive. It is a horror theme and we wanted to have some distinctive rooms within the level, I thought a creepy painting would help add to the spookiness of the game (especially since it will disappear and reappear in another room with creepy laughter). The large creature that pierces through many of the spiral clouds, is a mix between a Furby (spesifically the Long Furby meme) and the length of an asian dragon. The idea consist in a giant living cake/ice cream that eats everything that cross it mouth. There’s lots of sweet things around since Kyary stuff usually looks that way. The cake eating a cloud or the cream vortex swallowing a cherry might not be so sweet, but her art have those details quite often. This was made in Blender for modeling and Substance Paint for texturing. Textures range from 512x512 up to 4k.
