I really wanted to make a scifi character in his combat suit. I was inspired by Star Citizen, but Halo’s designs are really the best ones for this. For the process, at first I made the lowpoly model in Maya, then I went to Zbrush to subdivide it and put all the details needed with my own alphas. I baked the highpoly model in susbtance painter, and then I tried to make several smart materials to texture the whole character. I also did 2 different camos, because I needed a character that could fit in my upcoming space station project. I also rigged my character with my own auto-rig, therefore I was able to put it in several poses. I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”. My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures. The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series. Workflow: No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size. Done 100% in Blender3D. What I Learned in the Process: Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system. Treasure Planet is one of my favourite Disney films of all time and deserves more recognition. After watching the film again, I decided I’d make a 3D model of Jim’s Solar Board. Originally I had wanted to animate it so that it folded down but after modelling and texturing, I just had to show it off. This model uses a single 1024 texture map, along with a normal map, specular map and an alpha map and is made up of 2,820 tris. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 2676 polygons.

Hello! This is my entry for the #StorybookChallenge. Since I was a kid I always dreamed of being an astronaut and I read a lot of books about space. For this challenge I teamed up with my girlfriend, who is a professional childern’s book illustrator, to recreate my desire to touch the stars. After modelling an environment for my last project, I decided to focus on props this time. I pushed my modelling skills by attempting different spear designs, incorporating shapes that went beyond the typical box-shape. Spear B (middle) was especially challenging given its organic nature, so it was an opportunity to practice sculpting in ZBrush.
