Here’s a challenge I’m doing: modelling a Smash Bros character each day until Smash Ultimate releases. This project started October 2nd. I probably won’t manage to strictly model one per day but I’m eager to see it through. Anyway, here are the original 12 from Super Smash Bros 64. This is my taking on the original Nintendo characters that debuted in the first entry of the Smash series. They’re all low poly, PBR with a cartoon style. I made this model in 2016, to practice modeling shapes and creating procedural materials. It was decent work at the time, but I revisited it in 2022 to give it a proper mesh/material cleanup and see how much I could improve it. This is the result! Some of it could definitely still take a little more attention, but overall I’m happy with where it ended up. It’s a cool ode to the infamous Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros.
