Whhooaa new support for refraction! I had some concept art sitting around of a plant fairy trapped in its eternal home of amber (a simplecg monthly challenge from a while back), and never got around to modeling it. Found the perfect excuse for it this time and cranked it out. I'm so happy with the results. :') For more process screenshots, visit the Artstation page. This building was a solitary cell/torture chamber in Mweru detention camp in Nyeri, Kenya. ‘Hardcore’ detainees would be kept here in solitary confinement seperated from the rest of detainees for extended periods of time. Here they would be tortured, beaten and denied essentials such as food and water. After independece, the camp was later converted to a secondary school and goes by the name Mweru High School today.
The building shown in this 3D reconstruction still stands within the school grounds today and is used as a store. A sign attached to the building reads, ” Mau Mau Torture Room, they hated the injustice, they took the oath and went to the forest. They were detained, harassed and tortured, they died for our FREEDOM”

In the eastern part of the mansion to the left there is a guest room, the blue bedchamber, furnished and decorated in Gustavian style. The wall covering, an oil-painted tapestry from the 1790s, is a simplified variant of the wallpaper in the atrium on the other side of the hall. The bed with Sina hangings of mosquito nets, the dressing table covered with white cotton cloth, the veneered desk and the seating furniture signed by Stockholm chairmaker Erik Ohrmark are all good representatives of the Gustavian style. Per Hilleström’s oil painting, dated 1775, gives an idea of how the ladies of the time were dressed. The blade-decorated tile stove originates from a Stockholm house.
