(OMC 1960.698.001a) This spoon carved of wood with a teardrop shaped bowl is made by the Aweer, also known as the Boni, people of Somalia. The Aweer lives in both Southern Somalia and Eastern Kenya. They traditionally practice hunting and gathering. Hunting for food involved hunting giraffes, antelopes, and dik-dik (a small animal in the antelope family living in Eastern Africa). The Aweer language is considered an endangered language with approximately 200 known speakers. International Driller Charles Wallen brought back the spoon from Somaliland in the early 20th Century. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 49974 polygons.
