Chiesa San Pietro - Backside Facade (Tuscania - VT)
San Pietro is a Romanesque and Gothic-style, Roman Catholic church just outside Tuscania, province of Viterbo, region of Lazio, Italy.
Facade of the church
The façade has a large rose window, decked with mosaics, hedged at the corners by the symbols of the four evangelists, and flanked by reliefs with elaborate carvings of plants, menagerie of animals, and a complex iconography of saints and figures of the old testament.
Below is a loggietta and on the ground is a sculpted main portal with a large rounded arch. The nave is flanked by rounded Romanesque arches and leads to a presbytery with a Ciborium for main altar. The presbytery has a geometric mosaic floor. The crypt has gothic tracery.

Introduced into Egypt by the Hyksos in the sixteenth century B.C., the chariot was throughout the New Kingdom closely associated with the king, who is constantly shown dominating the field of battle, the reins around his waist, firing his bow. Chariots begin to appear in Egyptian wall reliefs and paintings from the early 18th dynasty, and are mentioned as diplomatic gifts in the correspondence from el-Amarna. Altar de ofrendas situado dentro del templum –recinto sagrado– del Genius Augusti de Pompeya. Muestra relieves relacionados con el ritual de ofrendas religiosas a este dios protector del emperador. En la cara principal aparece una escena en la que un sacerdote ofrece una libación sobre un trípode antes de realizar el sacrificio del toro. En la parte trasera se ve un templo tetrástilo, con toda probabilidad el que se encontraría tras el altar.
En el resto de escenas encontramos una corona cívica –de hojas de roble– y diversos elementos rituales como la acerra, el lituus o el simpulum, entre otros.

The Barge is a breakwater built to protect the house and terraces from waves. It was playfully designed to look like a boat. James Deering commissioned all of the sculptures from American artist Alexander Stirling Calder in 1915.
The local limestone that covers the Barge is soft and porous. The salt water and storm waves of Biscayne Bay have significantly eroded the Barge, threatening the stability of its statuary and decorative reliefs.
