Princess Azula from Avatar: The last Airbender character model. A personal project to further develop my learning at University and just aquire more knowledge with industry software. I started in Zbrush, retopologised in Maya, posed in Zbrush, baked and textured in Substance Painter. I am pretty happy with the outcome being my first character retopology and although there is a lot of stuff I would do different if I was to make it again, I believe it is better to take all the new lessons learnt onto my next project. Recently I took an opportunity to redo a couple of our older starfighter assets in Sins of the Prophets, starting with our Longsword fighters of the UNSC faction. This particular model is of the smaller Longsword variant known as the “C-712”, serving as an interceptor in game. This model is about double the polygons of the older model, at 1,036 polygons in all. All textures are done in 2K resolution and created with a mix of photoshop and materials from substance painter. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 2046 polygons.

It started out as a low poly model but was never finished. To finally finish it I decided to add lots of new detail as well as completely re-texture it, adding additional maps that our game engine didn’t support at the time (like normal maps). It includes a fully modelled cockpit (which would have been interactive had the game ever been made), and a detailed rotary engine; both of which have their own set of texture maps so will be easy to reuse in other projects. Included in the optional download are all uncompressed texture maps in PNG format (diffuse, AO, roughness, metallic, and normal), as well as quadrangular and triangulated versions of the mesh. This is my scene for the Howest DAE diorama assignment. Before starting my studies at DAE I went on a summer trip to Norway and found the nature there, and in particular the forests, to be very inspiring. I tried to capture some of that experience in the foliage and landscaping of the garden. My main goal for this scene was to make it feel like a believable whole while still keeping a strong overall composition. I really tried to push myself on this one so any feedback will always be appreciated. I did my best to convey the forest loner’s story of why he lives where he does. He may be an art thief but I didn’t want to commit any actual art theft myself, so the paintings are just some photographs, mostly from Norway. This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn’t work at all with the scene. Instead I’ve kept it very basic and natural. I don’t think it’s super realistic at all and if I had more time I would probably have devoted more of it to better texturing, but I think for a last-minute project it’s not too bad ^^ 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 8269 polygons.
