Got together with a bunch of my buddies one morning and we all took tons of photos (1780) while another friend flew a drone over and around the arch to get the above photos (another 1739). Here’s a screengrab that shows all the camera angles we captured, including the drone shots: The arch is over 24 meters (80 feet) tall and it’s right in the middle of a high traffic intersection, so it presents many challenges, and I’m not even talking about all the trees around it. It’s my first large-scale scan and I hit so many walls with getting it to come out well, largely because ZBrush has a 50 million polygon limit. Anyway, this is the first of many. Named Echo City, built on the pacific ocean by business congloramates to act as a city state and a tax haven. As it is a new nation all of the citizens are immigrants, so that explains the multilingual signs everywhere. This is a bit of an experiment and still a work in progress. The Smithsonian has a mammoth skeleton for download, http://3d.si.edu/downloads/55 . Mammoths are, of course, relatives of African elephants. But they are more comparable with Indian elephants. Making a skeleton is a a lot of work and I wanted to see if I would be able to take an educated guess and turn the mammoth skeleton into an African (bush) elephant skeleton. I am still going to ask people who know to review it, but for now here it is. I will probably use this slot to upload the updated versions.
