Hypostyle hall of the Hathor shrine at the temple of Hatshepsut was the most difficult part of the photoscanning project from scientific grant “Dialog” (under directory of Jadwiga Iwaszczuk PhD, founded by National Science Centre of Poland for collaboration of IKŚiO PAN (Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures, Polish Academy of Science), PCMA UW (Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archeology, University of Warsaw) and Ministry of Antiquities of Arab Republic of Egypt.
Model was created from 5159 photos taken during a one hour of light gap per day, when the temple is covered by the shadow of the mountain in the late afternoon, but with still enough light for sharp images. Por muchos motivos, Hatshepsut es uno de los personajes más fascinantes del antiguo Egipto. Nieta, hija y esposa de faraones, no se conformó con el papel secundario que la sociedad reservaba a las mujeres, sino que asumió ella misma el gobierno de las Dos Tierras a la muerte de su marido, Tutmosis III, y durante la minoría de edad de Tutmosis IV.
Pero en vez de conformarse con la regencia, se hizo proclamar Faraón del Alto y el Bajo Egipto (la quinta de la dinastía XVIII), adoptando con inteligencia todos los tributos reales y ganándose la confianza del poderoso sacerdicio de Amón. De esta manera, inauguró un largo reinado de más de 20 años (desde 1490 hasta 1468 a.C.) en el que el país del Nilo vivió en relativa paz y prosperidad.
El impresionante templo aterrazado (y en parte excavado en la roca) que se hizo construir en Deir el Bahari es uno de los muchos monumentos que debemos a su enérgico gobierno. Taharqa Gate Conservation
The Taharqa Gate is situated in what would have been the northern mudbrick enclosure wall of the Small Amun Temple at Medinet Habu.
In the aftermath of the destruction of the Temple Area and walls of Ramses III at Medinet Habu, the Ethiopian Kings of the 25th dynasty undertook reconstruction efforts, rebuilding a mudbrick wall encircling the small temple upon the foundations of a wall of the same dimensions erected by Hatshepsut.
With these massive mudbrick enclosure walls all but weathered away, the gate now appears as a free standing structure. However, the lack of surrounding mudbrick structural support it had when built, combined with 2000 years of erosion have left the gate in need of urgent attention.
